Helping to build your self worth when you may not see it

How It All Began- Ch. 3

January 24, 2024

We moved to Arizona after our honeymoon. Poor Aaron got sick on our honeymoon in Mexico. ( I think he drank the water). The poor guy couldn’t swallow and sat in a hammock, spitting into a cup constantly. But he made it through.

Working full time as an electrician and going to school full time, he graduated in December of 2005 with a Bachelors of Science Management in Summa Cum Laude. I was very impressed and so proud of him. We both worked so hard for him to get this far. I worked at Elizabeth Arden salons for a couple of months ( hated it and its outdated salon) and then worked at Arizona Hair Co. I LOVED working there and met so many incredible people. Meanwhile, I was 6 months pregnant with Kayla and felt like a house. Aaron received so much recognition and support from family and friends with his great accomplishment.

We lived in this cute little 2 bedroom apartment in Tempe. I still can’t believe how much rent is now adays. I remember paying $750 a month. That was the life back then! I loved it so much. ( I mean check out the computers back in the day!! VINTAGE!!) I would move back to Arizona in a HEART BEAT!!! I loved the weather, I had so many other family members that still lived there while we were there, and I loved the smells there. Especially after it rained ( more so from the monsoons). I was so bummed to move to WI where it was COLD. But, I won’t lose hope in moving back to warmth and mountains.

I loved all the Holidays and Birthday Celebrations we had in that apartment for 4 years. These are the memories that flood back into my mind and appreciate life even more.

We get so caught now a days with the trends and social media fads. I have been guilty of it and have lost my drive in what I want and know can do. Its not easy, but it is so worth it. Working hard in a marriage, working hard at what you want, working hard in any relationships; its all worth it. It takes time, dedication and love. Many times I don’t see that and get wrapped up in my frustrations with what I have to deal with now. But I truly believe that God has guided me to write my brief stories, to look back on where I came from, what Aaron and I have achieved together and indiviudally, and where I want to go and achieve NOW.

I get caught up in the world, and not being me. I have envied people where they are at and what they are doing or have. I prayed and asked God for strength and to carry me to what He has planned for me to do. I want to do so many things, and yet hesitate too many times because I’m scared I will not do it correctly.

Here me out my friend, I am writting this for somebody to relate to and understand where I am coming from that you too can find strength to keep PUSHING ON!! As I sit here, I get a bit emotional in all the set backs I took because of fear. My daughter Keira gave me a ring that says Faith over Fear. She told me that it reminded her of me. That is my mantra this year. FAITH OVER FEAR! Do what scares me and get over that hill… that MOUNTAIN. Because when we do, we will do so many great things it will shock those around us.

So here I stop at this chapter in the story and will share the next chapter in my next journal about my children. Appreciate what you have. Recognize lessons that are for you to learn from.
